You have
prepared and invested so much for your accommodation just to end up not
being able to sleep at the hotel where you are checked in. It could be
that you are really having troubles sleeping since you are not in your
own room, or you are unable to really sleep due to other factors like
for example, someone is throwing a party at the same hotel. Below are
some tips to help you get a better sleep at your hotel room.
Select your room wisely. Have
an earlier reservation and see to it that you will get a quiet room.
Ask for a room that is far from the amenities like swimming pool. Avoid
rooms that are near the elevator, pantry and parking lot. Know if there
is also an ongoing renovation so that you can avoid them.
Ask about your options.
Inquire about the type of curtains on your room. If you are not
smoking, request for a non-smoking room. Know the kind and number of
pillows they are providing as well as the bed sheets and linens. If you
are traveling with someone, you can also ask for additional bed, instead
of the two of you sleeping together in a bed for two.
Know the facts.
Refrain from working on your bed. Do not eat very heavy meals before
sleeping. You can try a glass of wine or cup of tea instead of
alcohol. You may opt to also request the front desk to hold your calls;
unless emergency matters. You can also take a warm bath for a more
relaxing feeling.
Learn to help yourself.
Adjust the room temperature and have a dim light. Once in bed, relax
and breath deeply. Do not wait for you to hear noises. Play soft music
if that will help. If you cannot really sleep, get up and find
something else to do like reading a magazine or watching TV, until you
get to sleep.
